Danny Wegman is chairman; Colleen Wegman, his daughter, is president and CEO. Danny’s daughter Nicole Wegman is senior vice president. Robert Wegman, Danny’s father, was chairman until his death in April 2006.
Wegmans is known for offering an unmatched variety, up to 700 different fruits and vegetables on any given day; 100 or more are organic. Each store builds strong partnerships with nearby family farms, and in season, offers locally grown fruits and vegetables picked daily and delivered directly to the store.
Three-hundred specialty and artisan cheeses produced domestically or imported from around the world. There are more than 90 Mediterranean Bar items, including imported and domestic olives, hummus, fresh mozzarella, marinated mushrooms, artichokes, roasted peppers, and antipasti.
Ready-to-cook entrees and pre-marinated meats in a variety of flavors to pop in the oven or on the grill. In addition to conventional meat, Wegmans also offers the choice of organic pork, chicken, lamb, bacon, and sausage, and Wegmans Food You Feel Good About meats from animals raised free of antibiotics and hormones.
Next Door by Wegmans opened in December 2009 in Pittsford, NY. The standalone restaurant seats a total of 270 guests, including four private dining areas. Next Door takes the best of Wegmans and prepares it fresh using all-natural, sustainable and organic ingredients.
With the design and menu inspired by European countryside restaurants, Amore Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar opened in June 2013 with seating for 85, including a private dining room for 10, plus a bar area that seats 31. The restaurant is part of Wegmans’ East Avenue store in Rochester.
