Our neighbors at Happy Dirt know that great flavor starts at the source. And the best source is healthy, organic produce, if you ask Randy Massey, owner of M&M Plant Farms and one of Happy Dirt’s farmer-owners. He says, “For the overall health of the plant and the soil, it’s better to use microbes. If you have a strong plant, you have less problems with disease.” In other words, the happiest fruits and veggies start with the happiest dirt.

Happy Dirt was founded with a goal to increase North Carolina-grown produce by supporting local organic farmers and providing people with local, sustainable produce year-round. Our Wegmans Organic Farm was opened with a similar mission to provide the best-tasting sustainable produce, using innovation and local partnerships to extend the eastern growing season. With shared values and Wegmans’ continued expansion south, a partnership between the two newfound neighbors was only natural. Randy and Happy Dirt have been providing our stores with incredibly flavorful organic produce since 2019.
