American Salmon
American Salmon is Atlantic Salmon that is land-raised in the USA. This method raises salmon on land in freshwater enclosures that are part of an innovative Recirculating Aquaculture System. It’s raised in Wisconsin (closer to home) and has no coastal ocean impact.
Recirculating Aquaculture
Our American salmon is proudly raised in one of the world’s largest land-based Recirculating Aquaculture Systems. This system, also known as RAS, uses natural methods to raise salmon on land indoors. The protected structure ensures optimal fish health and nutrition without the need for hormones, antibiotics or pesticides. Land-raised RAS means these freshwater salmon cannot interact with wild fish or potentially disrupt delicate ocean ecosystems. In other words, this regenerative process of raising salmon indoors is a path to restoring our oceans.
Sustainability Facts
The water in which the fish are grown passes through filters to purify the water, which is returned to the fish. Then, the remaining nutrient-rich water is used to irrigate land in a regenerative agriculture project which is actively restoring 800 acres of land back to its native state.
Recirculating aquaculture avoids ocean pollution, helping to preserve delicate marine ecosystems.
Anything coming out of the fish house is converted into compost.
Our salmon is never airfreighted, which saves approximately 3,000 miles per shipment compared to salmon sourced from conventional ocean-based farms.
