Manhattan, February 13, 2023 – Hiring and training is now underway for more than 300 part-time positions at Wegmans Food Markets’ new Astor Place store in lower Manhattan. The 82,000 square-foot store is in the lower levels of 770 Broadway at the corner of Astor Place and Lafayette Street.
The Astor place team is currently accepting online applications for a variety of part-time openings across every department in the store, from culinary roles to customer service representatives, including overnight shifts for stocking and food production. Hiring for full-time jobs began last fall and is ongoing for select positions, including shift leaders, food service managers, and cooks. Hiring for cashiers will begin in July.

When Salvador Gomez was hired for a fulltime customer service position, he was excited to join a company where he would have the opportunity to grow. Little did he know that he would get his first promotion after just three months.

The retail portion of the Wegmans Astor Place store is scheduled to open in the fall of 2023 and will include a variety of prepared and grab-and-go meal options. The Omakase Restaurant will be opening in the spring of 2024. The Astor Place location will be the second in New York City after the Brooklyn store opened in 2019. In total, the store will employ more than 550 people, most of whom will be new to the company and hired locally.
