Since 1916, our business philosophy has been to be the very best at serving the wants and needs of our customers. Wegmans understands that you care how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate your trust that we will use the information wisely and legitimately. You have our word that we will only use the personal data we collect about you to give you the best Wegmans shopping experience possible.
As detailed below, we collect personal data from you to serve you best. Whether we collect your name and email address when you place an order with Meals 2GO, or your contact information when you sign up for the Wegmans Shoppers Club, we do so to be able to contact, identify, and serve you better. The data you provide helps us understand your preferences, so we can personalize and continually improve your shopping experience.
We collect the following personal data:
We collect information about you in a number of ways, including:
Some of our stores (including in exterior areas) utilize video surveillance and other fraud monitoring tools (collectively, “Security Equipment”) to create a safer environment for our staff and customers, and to deter, prevent, investigate, and/or prosecute any illegal activity that may occur on our premises. Our video systems record digital images but do not record audio. Information from the Security Equipment (“Security Information”) is accessible only to a limited number of Wegmans employees, or to third-party service providers or law enforcement, engaged to assist with security-related tasks. The third-party service providers may have access to Security Information only where strictly required to perform their tasks, and are not allowed to use the Security Information for any other purposes; and we may provide Security Information to law enforcement for investigations, to prevent fraud, or for safety and security purposes.
We use digital tracking tools (such as “cookies,” web beacons, and pixels) to collect and store information whenever you interact with our website and app through your computer or mobile device.
Cookies are very small text files that are placed on your device by a web server that allow us, or another party, to collect and analyze information about your use of our website. Pixels and other tracking technologies can load small graphic files in our website or the emails we send and also collect and analyze information about you. This information may include how often you visit our website, the pages you visit, and the other websites you use prior to visiting our website, the type of browser, device, or hardware you are using, search terms, mobile network information, IP-based geographic location, and how you interact with an e-mail we send. We use this information to improve our website and communications with you, as well as to customize your experience while you are on our site. Most third-party analytics tools collect only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit our website, rather than your name or other identifying information. Although third-party analytics tools may store a digital tracking tool on your computer or device to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit our website, the digital tracking tools typically cannot be used by anyone but that third party. Some of these third-party service providers may collect information from our website for retargeting and more personalized interest-based advertising.
The third-party digital tracking tools we use include the following:
If you make use of a Wegmans mobile application, we may use certain third-party tools for analytics in relation to mobile application usage as well.
Wegmans does not control how third parties collect or use your information to serve interest-based advertising. For more information about third-party service providers who may build a profile on you based on your online browsing activities please visit the YourAdChoices FAQs. To opt out of interest-based advertising from participating advertising companies please visit the DAA’s Consumer Choice Tool or the NAI Consumer Opt-Out Tool.
If you have a Wegmans Shoppers Club account, the information you provided on your application is merged with your Wegmans.com profile (if you choose to register for our online services). Whether we interact with you online or at our stores, we feel it’s important to have one account for you, to facilitate customer service.
The security of your account is very important to us. If you register for online services that we provide, we encourage you to use a strong password and not reuse a password that you use or have used elsewhere. As a customer, you also play an important role in protecting your own data. Advice on how to create a strong password from the Federal Trade Commission, including through use of a password manager program, is available here. Also, you can add multi-factor authentication protection to your account. Details are available here.
If you have any questions concerning the security of your account, or think that your account has been used by someone else without your permission, please contact us immediately at 1-800-WEGMANS (934-6267). We are always ready to help address any security concerns you have with your account.
We may use the information we collect in a variety of ways, including:
Where Wegmans de-identifies personal data in order to protect it, we will not re-identify such data and, if such de-identified data is shared with a third party as described below, we will take steps to ensure that no re-identification occurs. It is also important for us to keep certain information relating to your account, such as historical purchases, even if you request that we delete your personal data (see the “Data Rights” section below). If you do request deletion of your personal data, we will remove it from our databases and systems by either deleting your data or de-identifying it, although we will retain any information we are required to keep by law.
Wegmans may work with third parties to show you tailored ads. We may also work with third-party platforms, like Google or Meta, to show Wegmans ads on these platforms. We also share customer purchase data with third-party advertising platforms, which in turn provide de-identified audiences to third parties, such as your favorite product brands, for targeting advertisements. If you provide us with your mobile telephone number, for example when you place an order through Meals 2GO, we may use that number to contact you, and may send you informational text messages about your order. For more information on our use of your telephone number, click here.
If you place an order through our website or applications as a “guest,” we will retain the order information you provide, in case you have any questions about the order later.
Securing your personal data is a top priority. We have administrative, technical, and physical safeguards in place to protect your information. For example, our website uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption so that your personal data cannot be read as it passes over the Internet. However, no information shared over the Internet or stored in a computer system is 100% safe. You are also responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect the personal data you store in your account against unauthorized disclosure or misuse. For this reason, remember to keep your Wegmans account credentials secure. Also, be sure to secure the credentials you use to access your email account, so no one can impersonate you and steal your personal data. Further, be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer or mobile device.
Wegmans.com gives you access to your profile so you can keep it updated and view it at any time. All of the personal data you’ve shared with us in your profile is available to you through My Account. Please review your profile on a regular basis and update it so we can serve you better. Otherwise, you may have additional rights to access your personal data as detailed under “Data Rights” below.
Wegmans.com may use automated chat features, or “chatbots.” Information collected by a chatbot is used only for the intended purpose stated at the time of collection, such as to answer a specific user question. We will only collect the information a user submits as part of a chatbot conversation, along with session information described generally in the “What personal data do we collect?” section above. We recommend users not submit personal or other sensitive information through the chatbot features. If you have a specific question requiring a detailed response, we recommend contacting us through one of the means noted below.
You have certain choices about how we communicate with you and what information we collect from you. To update your choices, ask us to remove your information from our mailing list or submit a request for access to your information, please contact us as specified in the “Contact Us” section below.

Depending on where you live, such as Virginia, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, or Maryland, you may have certain rights to your data, such as the right to (i) confirm that we are processing your data; (ii) access your data in a readily usable format; (iii) correct your data that we process; (iv) opt out of the processing of personal data for the purpose of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling; or (v) delete some or all of the personal data Wegmans has collected about you. Valid requests to delete may be fulfilled by deleting or de-identifying this information, although Wegmans will retain any information we are required to keep by law. Deleting your information also includes deleting your Shoppers Club account, which will discontinue certain experiences like accessing associated discounts, digital coupons, and purchase receipt history.
To exercise any of the rights outlined above, please visit our Data Rights Portal. If you wish to correct your personal data, you can also contact our Customer Care Center at 1-800-WEGMANS (934-6267) or online at Contact Us. Please note that if you make a request, we will need to authenticate your identity (either that you are the person making the request or the authorized representative of that person) to carry out the requests. If we can’t authenticate your identity, we will let you know. In order to maximize the potential that we can fulfill your request, please use the information that you provided in your Shoppers Club account or Wegmans.com account, such as the contact email or mobile phone number you use with that account. In certain circumstances, we can reject your request. If you disagree with our decision, you may have the right to appeal our rejection of your request by using our data rights portal.
Our mobile applications may allow you to order meals or products and have them delivered by us or a third-party delivery or pick-up service, create a shopping list, search or add products to a favorites list, check price or product availability, clip digital coupons, and engage in a variety of other activities and services.
Also, our mobile applications collect information about the location of your device.
