We have been diligent in ensuring that we are addressing the rule with practical solutions aligned to industry standards. Our goal is to eventually implement these standards across all food items that are received at a Wegmans facility. However, our initial requirements will only be for our suppliers who provide foods that are or contain an ingredient on the FDA’s Food Traceability List (FTL).

Required suppliers are expected to provide the following for every shipment to a Wegmans facility (DC and store):

• EDI 856 Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN)
• Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC)
  • The SSCC label on each pallet is expected to match the tare level MAN segment of the ASN
  • A unique SSCC pallet label is needed for every item on any mixed pallet
• GS1-128 Standard Case Label
• Self-identify items on the Food Traceability List during the Wegmans new item setup process
